PORTILLO FAMILY MEETING MINUTES

I. Thank you to Lorraine for extending the
use of her house
II. PRAYER by Alyssa
III. INTRODUCTIONS
a. State Name, P1/P2/P3, what branch of
family
IV. Treasurer’s Update by Lorraine
a. Paid $250 for the park reservation
V. Mardi Gras Party
a. Date – Saturday, February 16, 2013
b. Location – American Legion
c. Time – 7pm – Midnight
d. Cost - $10/person at the door
e. Music – DJ Will
f. Raffles – each family to donate a basket
g. Wear Masks for contest
VI. Committee for Mardi Gras Party
a. Decorations – Kara and Mona discussed
ideas at Primas Brunch.
Decorations will be simple to make it look nice
b. Music – Carmel – Booked
c. Door – Katrina and Moni
d. Hall – Lorraine - Reserved
e. Raffle Baskets – Carmel, Chris, and Weenee
will contact each branch of the family.
They will start working on it in January.
f. Mailers – Stevie will make the flyer. Rachel and Bernadette will mail them to
the family who does not use social media
g. Clean Up – all family that stays until the
end will help clean
VII. Honoring the Aunts and Uncles – Dukie
a. It started out as a Primo Get Together,
then turned into an event to Honor our Aunts and Uncles.
b. Saturday, December 15th
c. 12pm – 6pm
d. American Legion Hall (no cost)
e. Focus will be on documenting our family
history
f. Ray Juarez, documented the OTNC Reunion,
has offered to help us do a picture narrative
g. He will be available to scan pictures and
is also available to go to your house to scan pictures
h. Bring your pictures in an envelope that is
clearly labeled with your name
i. We will create 16 CDs for each branch of the
family
j. The end result will be a MASTER CD to
document our family history
k. Please get information out to the
Aunts. Uncles are confirmed
l. It will be a pot luck
VIII.
Family
Picnic – Summit Park – May 25th, 2013
i. Lorraine has reserved Summit Park.
ii. Time – 11am – 6pm
iii. Cost was $250.00
iv. Layout will be the same as the Family
Reunion 2012
v. We will have more emphasis on kid’s
activities. This will provide an
opportunity for the younger generation to get to know their cousins
vi. Individual families responsible for
providing their own drinks and food
vii. $65.00 per Banner – 16 Banners.
1. Will be used at all of our family
functions

3. The family fund will pay for the banners
4. VOTE PASSED TO BUY BANNERS

x. Campsites should be reserve ASAP
xi. Decided to price out The Picnic People,
which are professionals who will help with the games and activities.
xii. Weenee and Chris will get quotes and
report back to the family
IX. Easter Weekend
a. Lorraine will be camping at Summit Park if
anyone would like to join
X. ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Pita was on Magic 92.5 with Xavier the
X-Man. She won a lunch with Xavier
and brought along Weda and Norma. They had a great time! The even sang “We are Portillos” on the
radio.
b. Rocky (Stevie’s brother) moved out. He is now renting a house on Manchester
Street in National City. CONGRATS!
c. Uncle Picho turned 83. He looked good and was talkative
d. A good friend of our family, Benny
Diffenbaugh, passed away on Friday morning. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, December 15th.
e. The Spot feed the homeless. It was an
excellent and successful event.
f. Pita is helping Ricos Hair Salon with a
Toy Drive on Christmas Eve. If you
would like to donate an unwrapped gift, please contact Pita or drop them off at
Ricos.
XI. NEW BUSINESS – Portillo Xmas in July
a. Use the Casa De Salud to coordinate
efforts to help the needy
b. Xmas in July event
c. This is a tradition our family can
establish for generations
d. We can partner with someone to help get
the word out
e. Bernadette, Lorraine, Pita and Kara will
volunteer to get this tradition started.
